OMG.
OVMS installed the latest update and now I am being bombarded with messages "Not charging".
I don't care. I know when I plug in the car to charge.
This will eat through data like there is no tomorrow.
Anyone know how to disable this?
Definitely a bug in the new firmware.
Can you provide some details? Such as your vehicle ID, vehicle type, the exact message you are receiving (presumably a PUSH notification)?
My cars are both THINK City, so if this issue has only to do with a particular vehicle's firmware, please ignore.
I can say that I have not seen this issue with either of my cars.
Having said that, while SMS Message repetition can eat up data, it goes way beyond that. In the case of THINK City, there is at least one significant bug in the charging State Machine handler in addition to a near complete lack of consideration as to what is the appropriate periodic update intervals and conditions necessary to bother updating Standard Metrics. Consequently, the software attempts to update a host of metrics with every charging related CAN message received (i.e. at 200ms intervals). Many of don't need updating at any more than 60- or 10-second intervals (e.g. Temperatures) and certainly don't need updating at more than 1-second intervals. To make matters worse, a bug in the firmware causes a failure to detect passing the 80%SOC threshold and consequently manually removing the plug doesn't get treated right---the car continues to issue a host of charging messages continuously, even after plug removal. The result is that I have seen as much as 10Mbytes of data usage during one long charging session. Of course, if I'm connected to Wifi, the impact is nil. Still, I have been working on fixing these issues in ThinkCity vehicle software and hope to be testing to verify SIM data impact will no longer be significant.
As Mark asked, which vehicle is having this issue?
