Not doing too well

Ok I got my module, wifi only and have it setup per instructions. I can connect with my laptop and see it's connected when I go to status it tells me the 12 volt battery state and that's about all. When I click on the dashboard tab everything is showing 0's. Any suggestions.

Update

I guess I didn't understand. When I plugged in my charger I do show traction battery voltage and % of charge. I guess I was expecting more information. Also unable to get anything from my iphone app. :(

Smart

hello, have you selected the right vehicle and turned on the ignition?

Didn't know about turning on

Didn't know about turning on the ignition. I thought I could monitor from my home while my car was parked outside with my iphone. didn't know it had to be turned on. I did select the right vehicle. so confused.

SmartED

The module only displays the last data from the vehicle. Because the CAN bus sleeps and provides no information when the car is saved and ignition off.
If the loading process, current data will be delivered.
Some things are only read out if CanWrite is activated in the settings.

I think it's just too

I think it's just too complicated for me. I read what you said and still a little confused. Even with the key on only thing I see is the 12 volt battery state. If I plug in my charger then I do see % charged and battery voltage. I thought there would be more data displayed so not sure what's going on.

What Vehicle you have and what Firmaware version you use?

I have a 2016 Smart Fortwo ED

I have a 2016 Smart Fortwo ED and I believe latest firmware 3.2.002/ota_0/main (build idf v3.2-dev-1420-g151269458 May 12 2019

SmartED 451

On the "main" Firmware are only Basic Functions for the Smart. You should update to the "edge" developer Version. Under Firmware "Versions-Tag" add "edge" than under Flash From Web clear the Http-Url and click on Flash now. After Reboot aou should be on 3.2.002-150-gec54228 or higher.
Now you can set unter "Smart ED 3.Gen" -> Features "Enable CAN write(Poll)"

Ok thanks. Got it and installed the new firmware but I seen no difference. With charger unplugged I am only still just seeing the 12 volt battery voltage. What am I missing.

451 Now I see the menu for

451 Now I see the menu for the smart. Maybe I am expecting more than is available. Withe the key on in the dashboard I see traction battery voltage and soc. In the status screen I do see my car mileage, range etc. Sorry for all the confusion but not as technical as probably most are doing this. Really just need to know if I am getting what I am supposed to. :)

Functionality of the OVMS unit in smart ForTwo EQ

I installed it - like everybody else - and marvelled at the apparent lack of functionality. I don't code, useless at shell commands - if it isn't point and click, I can't get much out of it. Then a happy accident. The OBD plug got knocked out. RThen when it was all back on - all I got was location. I asked the vendor for help (Shout out to Glyn at openenergymonitor - top man) he wanted screen shots from the units web page. If ound the car had been dropped so I had to reinstall.
That was when I came across the config pages. Set the vehicle pin, found some other stuff. Not fully functional - but I am getting extra information and know I can go back and change parameters . So I would suggest exploring the config pages on the OVMS unit.
