Hi,
Please post picture and the location of the MG ZS EV OBDII port.
What is the recommended OVMS cable for the MG ZS EV(left / right / straight)?
I have ordered MG ZS EV (will have it in 14 days) and i want to order OVMS + cable for CAN bus sniffer.
Thanks
Hi
I have recieved from my thai friend instructions for adding OBD port for torque app via gateway module on passenger side.
Connectors needed are:

From here the way is very clear. :-)
Hi tom, can you get that translated or upload a better quality image so we can see the detail?
Shane
Hi
I have uploaded cable details for DIY assy (crimp tool is needed)
It is only to emulate what Captian DIY did, I have not test it yet (the items are on shipping)
Do it at your own risk!!!!
Thanks for above info, I will try it this weekend. Also ordered 40 pin pre-made harness for Nissan (skyline camera loom) which looks like what is needed here so hoping to add OBD branch to it.
When you say passenger side, is that the left or the right?
Gateway Module is bolted to firewall bracket behind glovebox
The Left hand drive models, as delivered in the Netherlands have the gateway module mounted under the steering wheel. back to back with the Bosch module.
This is probably a silly question, but do we actually need a Y cable to connect a OVMS unit?
Also in the forum somebody said crimping would be required, I thought the whole purpose of using the Y cable was so you won't need to do any cuts/ joins to the current cables. Or is crimping required, because some of the cables are not corrected to the right pins?
Thanks
No y-cable and no modifications are required. Just plug the ODB2 cable straight in
Once again, thanks for clarifying things
Can someone tell me where to find the ODB2 port to plug the OVMS into on the MG ZS EV ? please
In the UK its in the drivers footwell just behind the lower right part of the dash, you will need to get your head in the foot well to see it
Hi Shane/anybody
have you been able to get to any usable data? Just bought ZS EV and with lack of data through UI and no app, keen to explore CAN bus options
thanks, Alex
MG ZS compatibility for OVMS is nearly ready. Support will be released via OVMS firmware OTA update in the next few weeks. The following metrics will be supported:

Excellent News I can't wait this will be a Game Changer.
Is there anything in the "Comfort 2" update which impact/delay the release? I'm waiting on my update booking.

The update won't change anything with regard to OVMS usage. It's probably a good idea to unplug OVMS before taking the car in to avoid any confusion!
Hi Glyn, I've been testing the current edge firmware and looking great, most items work, I have discovered with the annoyance to my wife at 3am that the alarm goes of when the charge finishes, obviously because the car is locked, the car will not charge on ac with it unlocked.
im guess it was because the app was still active on my phone? any thoughts?
shane
This is all rather exciting. I'm new to OVMS, I will look through these forums to understand what i need for OVMS for the MG
I have made the split cable for the OVMS with EV CAN and OBD CAN ready
Apparently the alarm issue has been fixed, lookout for an edge FW build with the fix coming soon. I would recommend following the developers:
