Hello!
I am very interested in getting OpenVehicles for my car, but I am also interested in the OpenPilot Comma AI, see https://comma.ai/
Is it possible to have both installed at the same time? They both seem to use the OBD2-port on the car, so maybe both can't be plugged in at the same time?
Best regards,
Bodil
OBD2 is like serial communication between two devices. CAN is a bus and can have many communication points. The OBD2-port mostly have both communication points available.
Does the Comma AI require pure OBD or CAN? Does it even use the OBD serial connection? Some devices just take power (12V) from the port to communicate over the CAN and do not do OBD communication at the OBD2 port.
It depends on your vehicle type and how CommaAI and OVMS retrieve data from the car.
Thank you for your comments. I think Comma AI does some serious communication with the vehicle through the OBD2-port, since it can drive the car autonomously. It is not for power only. But I may misunderstand something. The installation instructions are here, with an installation diagram: https://comma.ai/setup/comma-3x
