Is there any current way to make donations to the project?
At some point the project offered itself donations to people that would like to work on the project: https://www.openvehicles.com/node/98
Later on there was a website advertised for donations to the project here: https://www.openvehicles.com/node/180 . But this website does not exist any more.
The main page, its telling to go to the forum https://github.com/openvehicles/Open-Vehicle-Monitoring-System-3/blob/master/README.md?plain=1#L191
But in the forum here i cant find the donations option.
Currently the only donation place i could find is offered by the developer Dexter here: https://dexters-web.de/spenden?lang=EN
Is there a central donation place? How would donations benefit the project?
Would a OVMS registration at opencollective be beneficial like for example the F-Droid project have registered? https://opencollective.com/f-droid
Currently, the project is financed by income from hardware sales - and this seems to be working ok.
It would be better to have a formal way of offsetting server costs, but that is more complex and involves micro-payments (with administrative burden). Dexter has the donation button there to help with the EU side.
