following occurs:
2 Android devices with /e/ OS 1.3 (Android10) installed. As long as the selected car image is one of the Teslas all is running fine.
But if I select another car image for our car - regardless which - the app crashes immediately and could no more started. Only a complete remove and reinstall solves the problem.
Very strange, because al Tesla images could be selected and are working. But even ithe folling car after the Teslas, the BMW i3 does nor work.
Any hints for me?
I doubt this is related to the image you select. I've seen the very same behaviour now on Android 13 with the unchanged default green roadster image.
I found out the crash loop can be resolved (for a while) by clearing the App cache. But the crash will eventually occur again.
It seems this is a bug between the Google Maps widget and the Android framework, our backtrace looks exactly like the one reported here:
I've tried updating the Maps widget to the latest release, but that doesn't help.
Sorry, no idea yet on how to solve or work around this.

What is absolutely strange:
I can select ALL Tesla-pictures without any problem. No crash. But if I select one image later - a BMW i3, the app crashes
So there may be another issue? What is different from the Tesla images to the BMW or Smart images?
There's actually one difference, to check that please try selecting a Smart, i-MiEV or Kia Niro image -- if that's the cause, these should work without crashing.
Selecting a Smart immediately crashes the app and no further app start is possible. Regardless cleanting the app-cache or not. In the moment I press the save button after selecting the car-image the app closes immediately. Looks like the graphics format between the Tesla images and oll others is not the same?
No, they are all PNG. I cannot reproduce this on any device, and you're the only one reporting this.
To help narrowing this down, you could try to retreive the crash log using adb.

Green Tesla picture works fine.
Other car pictures don't - app crashes.

Everything works normal ( incl. Car picture) on other phone WITH Google.
No priority, small inconvenience.
Seems that the pictures are NOT equally. Something in/on the other pictures than Tesla's ones must have a coding or so which needs Google Services or libraries.
So all users without a "Google-dongled" telephone may have this problem
