First of all I'd like to thank the OVMS team for their great work. I set up my OVMS today. It works perfectly.
I'm the administrator of a German Tesla forum (www.tff-forum.de) where several users reported about their experience with the OVMS.
Here are some questions I can't find an answer for on the Open Vehicles website or the TMC Forum:
- Is there a complete list of all SMS commands the OVMS understands?
- Is there a SMS command to check the network status of the OVMS?
- Is it possible to deactivate SMS messages (e.g. "charging done")?
- How can a user read out the firmware version of the OVMS without using a PICKIT flash tool?
- Is it possible to set the OVMS to a read-only mode without using a PICKIT flash tool?
Regards
Thorsten
Thorsten,
Thanks so much for your translations and evangelization of this to the german-speaking community ;-)
To answer your questions:
> Is there a complete list of all SMS commands the OVMS understands?
Yes, now. The v1.2 user guide for Tesla Roadster now includes an appendix with this information:
https://github.com/markwj/Open-Vehicle-Monitoring-System/blob/master/doc...
> Is there a SMS command to check the network status of the OVMS?
No. We normally check network status from the Apps themselves. The iPhone App shows a Green antenna icon on the car status page when the car is connected to the network. It also shows the time the car last reported in. The Android App has something similar.
> Is it possible to deactivate SMS messages (e.g. "charging done")?
Yes, we have quite of lot of granular control of this. See the appendixes in the latest user guide for information.
Note that the v1.2 firmware changes this slightly, compared to the v1.1 firmware you were using. v1.1 would send a SMS/Push notification _every_ time the charge completes. v1.2 will only send the SMS/Push notifications when the charge is _interrupted_ (ie; not when it completes normally, or you press STOP on the VDS or Apps).
> How can a user read out the firmware version of the OVMS without using a PICKIT flash tool?
The Apps and Server can 'see' it, as the car reports it. I think the Android App can show it on the diagnostics screen, but the iPhone App doesn't have any such function at the moment.
P.S. The stable end-user v1.2 firmware has now been released, and we recommend all developers to upgrade to that version.
> Is it possible to set the OVMS to a read-only mode without using a PICKIT flash tool?
Yes, from the Apps you can set feature #15 to 0 and reboot the module. You can also do this with SMS "FEATURE 15 0" and "REBOOT".
Regards, Mark.
Does the OVMS send a message to the phone when the alarm is triggered? If not is it possible to add this in a new version?
Regards
Thorsten
Not at that moment. We don't have the can bus message for that, and it would be kind-of noisy to find it. So long as the message is on the bus, it should be possible.
I suspect that north American cars may behave differently here, also, mas the alarm/immobiliser is different.
