Kona/Niro Odometer still not working?

I've been hopeful that the odometer would begin working after installing OVMS into my Kona over the summer but it does not appear that there's any progress on this. Does anyone know why this does not work as posts from ~2019 it seems that odo did work at least on Niro cars.
