Tesla Model Y - General Vehicle Support & Matching Cable

Hello!

Is there a anything that would prevent ovms to support a tesla model y?

If not, id'd give it a try get ovms support that vehicle.

When purchasing a ovms module, there's a bunch of cables offered to connect it to the car. Does anyone know which one fits best a tesla model y?

Thank & Regards!

Modern Tesla support would be

Modern Tesla support would be good, and there is some rudimentary support in the code. The issue is that with Tesla's own app and functionality so good, there is little incentive.

My own opinion is that the incentive could only be to produce advanced diagnostics and control. Things the Tesla App can't do. Like service mode kind of things.

From a cable point of view, you could start with one of those OBDII T cables generally available for Tesla. They allow tapping into one CAN bus as a standard OBDII port - and then using a standard OVMS OBDII cable to connect. OVMS could connect to up to three CAN buses, but that would require a custom tap cable (which you could adapt from the generally available T cables as they have all the wires available for tapping.
